About REV1211

REV1211 is a nonprofit working to help artists in the city of Austin thrive in their work, lives and faith. Working through community-based programing as well as events and creative projects, REV1211 is endeavoring to help artists create the positive impact in the city and world that they are uniquely positioned to create.

As one of the most influential cities in America and the world, Austin has built its reputation as a creative city and the live music capitol of the world. While much has contributed to Austins growth and flourishing, an inescapable component of this vitality has been related to the culture of the city through its artists.  To put it simply Austin has flourished as its artists have thrived and REV1211 is working to see that thriving continue and even grow.

Fostering and growing this thriving in Austin’s artists is a multifaceted work. With that perspective, REV1211 is engaging artists toward vitality in their whole person. We are addressing artists in their work as well as in their spiritual, relational, and vocational lives. We work toward these ends through relational means of community gatherings, mentoring, coaching, etc. all with the foundation of faith. Our desire is that artists would know full expression of life and work.

Believing that there is immense value in every artist as a maker, we believe that the fullest expression available in undergirded and maximized in relationship with the original creator Jesus Christ. As all artists bear the image of the creator in making their work, we hope that they would find connection to the source of that image. With that as our desire, we do serve both artists who have faith in Christ and those who do not seeing that God may use the divine image in all artists to bring His image to the world as well as His blessing.

Director of Rev1211

Spending over 20 years in songwriting, recording, event design, creative direction, as well as pastoral ministry, Jason Johnson came to REV1211 with a clear vision of the value of fostering artists and their work. Jason as the executive director of REV1211 over his career has seen the impact of excellent creative work in the lives of those who encounter it.

Whether it be in the form of music, film, visual art, etc. it is the ability of art to speak to and move people that is key for him. In his work, Jason found that there was additional need for care and fostering of artists so that they may make their moving work. In that realization, He stepped out of church staff ministry to direct REV1211 hoping to see faith and vitality in the arts community grow thus bringing flourishing to the entire city.

Jason is a 20-year resident of Austin. He is married to his wife Sarah, who works as a leader in a successful local architecture firm and together they are raising their amazing daughter Elie.
